OK, QCCA members, here's your chance to play free rated chess every Friday night and win a valuable prize. Here's how it works: every Tuesday for the next 10 weeks a new
"Potter's Challenge" position will be posted on the website. The positions all come from the games of
Russell "Rusty" Potter, the Virginia Life Master. The degree of difficulty will vary, with the first one being pretty easy.
Your task is to SOLVE THE POSITION. There will be a decisive continuation. Find it (preferably without the help of a computer program...it's not cheating in the contest...but it is cheating yourself out of an opportunity to work on your solving skills). Then, show up at the club on Friday night. There will be a board set up with the position. If you can demonstrate the correct solution, you will play that evening's rated chess game for FREE, PLUS you will earn a Grand Prix point. What good is that you ask? Well, after 10 weeks, we will add up the Grand Prix points, and whoever has the most will win FREE ENTRY INTO THE LPO OR NC OPEN...your choice! We want to encourage every chess enthusiast to GET OUT THERE and play more real time face to face chess, because that's where the REAL FUN is.
